1. SANTA MARIA MAGGIORE DI SIPONTO

It is a small church compared to other Roman churches in Puglia, but the interesting point of this place is the unique structure built on the archaeological area adjacent to the church. Unfortunately, the code was closed that day. Watch the church opening hours.

2. PARCO ARCHEOLOGICO DI SIPONTO

Santa Maria di Siponto is a lovely Roman church with simple lines and Islamic influence. The archaeological site includes the ruins of a 250AD Paleochristian palace with a semicircular walkway and mosaic pavement, plus the excavated remains of ancient Sipontium.

Since last year, the space occupied by the basilica has been transformed into a magnificent sculpture, built right onto the foundations. The installation is made of layers of wire mesh that overlap and intersect, reclaiming the space and volume of a structure that no longer exists.

The site is a bit out of the way unless you are going to Monte Sant'Angelo, Manfredonia, or the Gargano. Worth a detour for sure! It even has nice new bathrooms! Buon Viaggio, Cristina.

3. CASTELLO SVEVO ANGIOINO

Nice castle but many alternatives in the surrounding area. Visited it because we had an hour to kill. Reasonably good condition. Best to see with some information from a guide book.

4. ABBAZIA DI SAN LEONARDO IN SIPONTO

The beautiful monastery was built in the 12th century in a perfect Roman style, located along Via Francigena in the Manfredonia area, in the direction of Mattinata. The exterior of this small white stone church retains much of its original structure: the magnificent portal with elegant decorations and various reliefs on the front and sides.

The interior was restored in the last century to eliminate the various changes made over the centuries and bring it back as close as possible to its original shape. Simple and of pure lines, the interior is suggestive and inspires an essential trust.

Famous for being the gnomonic hole projected on the summer solstice, the shape of a small eleven rose window. The church was used by the Templar Knights, in which the remains (recently restored) of an ancient hospital remain in the vicinity. If you happen to be in this area, don't miss the chance to visit this gem.

5. MARINA DEL GARGANO

Superb facilities and an excellent location make the Gargano the perfect base from which to enjoy your stay in Gargano. Good restaurant, plus yacht service in the nearby town center.

6. CREPERIA CORNETTERIA THE OWL

Introduced by one of our local relatives, my girlfriend and I went to taste one of these crepes. We get one with Nutella and gianduia and another type of Nutella and galak (4 € each). Really delicious and soft. But I'll serve them with cutlery because eating them with a fork is easier than using my hands.

7. SALTY LAKE OASIS

This info center has limited opening times in summer. We did not manage to get in (or even to find someone there who spoke English).

8. BAGNI BONOBO

I went there for the first time in late July at my friend's company, on the occasion of a dinner. And to be honest we ate well. Pretty good value for money. I will definitely come back. DISCLAIMER!!!

9. PARROCCHIA CATTEDRALE SAN LORENZO MAIORANO

Gargano Square is the Spur of Italy limited by high coasts where there are two lakes Lesina and Varano. Frequently in prehistoric times, tourism today is due to the beauty of the landscape.

Manfredonia was built in 1256 by King Manfredi, destroyed by the Turks in 1620. The ancient nucleus in the walls was built by the Angevins, the church was rebuilt in the 600th century and preserved an impact. Valuable wooden sculptures from the 200th century depict Madonna and the children.

10. LIDO LA SIRENETTA

The only beach that has a bar across the castle beach. Possibility to eat sandwiches, salads, bruschetta, dishes of the day, fruit and much more. Recommended for days with friends and for moderate prices. RECOMMENDED!!
